Equipment

  • sheet pan
  • skillet
  • Griddle (optional)
  • Spatual
  • Measuring Spoons
  • Tinfoil (for storage)

Ingredients

  • 6 English Muffins
  • 6 large eggs
  • 14 oz ground turkey sausage or 6 pre-made patties
  • 6 slices Colby Jack Cheese
  • 6 Hashbrown Patties I use the brand, Strong Roots, found at Walmart or Whole Foods
  • 3 tbsp butter
  • 3 tbsp maple syrup

Instructions

  • Start by baking the hashbrown patties according to package direction.
  • Next, prepare the sausage. Slice and form patties similar to the size of the english muffin and about ½ inch thick (or use pre-made patties) and cook on medium heat on the stove top until cooked through (3-5 minutes per side).
  • Slice the English muffins in half and lay them open face on a baking sheet. Spread ½ tablespoon of spreadable butter onto one half each muffin.
  • On the other open face side of the english muffin (not the one with the butter), layer on a piece of cheese.
  • Next, grease a griddle (or skillet) and heat to medium heat. Crack eggs and fry for 6-7 minutes or until the egg whites are fully cooked. Note: Cook the eggs the way you like them - over easy, sunny side up, etc.
  • While the eggs are cooking, heat the broiler to 525°F and put the buttered & cheese english muffins under the broiler for 3-4 minutes or until cheese is melted and bread is toasted. Remove from oven.

Sandwich Assembly

  • Once the english muffins come out of the oven, time to stack this sandwich up! Layer the sausage patties on top of each muffin with melted cheese. Then add one hash brown patty to each sandwich.
  • Add a ½ of tablespoon (or more if you'd like) maple syrup on the hashbrowns. Place fried egg on each sandwich immediately after.
  • Complete the sandwich by adding the top half of the toasted english muffin.
  • Enjoy immediately or wrap in tinfoil and placing in the fridge/freezer. When it is time to enjoy, defrost on a microwavable safe plate for 60-90 seconds, flipping half way through or in a toaster oven. Enjoy!

Notes

These sandwiches are simple to make; but are all about the timing. If you plan on enjoying these copycat McDonald's breakfast sandwiches immediately, be sure to follow the directions in order to ensure a warm sandwich.
These sandwiches are really great to prepare in advance and keep in the freezer. Before enjoying, defrost for 60-90 seconds in the microwave - flipping half way through or pop in the toaster oven to keep the muffin crisp.
