Baking sheet
Wire rack
Tinfoil
- 2 crisp apples
- 12 oz bacon I used Jimmy Dean Applewood Smoked
- 1 tbsp hot honey
Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a large baking sheet with tinfoil. Place a wire rack on top of the baking sheet it
Use an apple core to remove the pit from the apples. Evenly slice each apple in half, then quarters. Each quarter should make 4 even slices of apples so you have 16 slices total between the two apples.
Use kitchen shears to cut every strip of bacon into 3 even pieces.
Wrap every apple slice with one cut piece of bacon and place on the wire rack.
Once all 32 apples are wrapped in bacon and on the wire rack, drizzle with a small amount of hot honey.
Bake for 30 minutes or until bacon is crispy.
Pierce with a small toothpick and transfer to a serving plate. Serve hot and enjoy!
The wire rack is KEY. The bacon must be able to breathe and cook from all sides. If you do not have a rack, make one out of tinfoil. Fold as if you are making a paper fan, in a back and forth manner to create a zig zag piece that your apples can lay on. Watch this video on How to Make a Baking Rack for details.
You want a crisp apple. I used Opal apples, but something like honey crisp or granny smith would also do.
