Equipment

  • Apple corer
  • Knife
  • Cutting Board
  • Kitchen shears
  • Baking sheet
  • Wire rack
  • Tinfoil

Ingredients

  • 2 crisp apples
  • 12 oz bacon I used Jimmy Dean Applewood Smoked
  • 1 tbsp hot honey

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a large baking sheet with tinfoil. Place a wire rack on top of the baking sheet it
  • Use an apple core to remove the pit from the apples. Evenly slice each apple in half, then quarters. Each quarter should make 4 even slices of apples so you have 16 slices total between the two apples.
  • Use kitchen shears to cut every strip of bacon into 3 even pieces.
  • Wrap every apple slice with one cut piece of bacon and place on the wire rack.
  • Once all 32 apples are wrapped in bacon and on the wire rack, drizzle with a small amount of hot honey.
  • Bake for 30 minutes or until bacon is crispy.
  • Pierce with a small toothpick and transfer to a serving plate. Serve hot and enjoy!

Notes

The wire rack is KEY. The bacon must be able to breathe and cook from all sides. If you do not have a rack, make one out of tinfoil. Fold as if you are making a paper fan, in a back and forth manner to create a zig zag piece that your apples can lay on. Watch this video on How to Make a Baking Rack for details.
You want a crisp apple. I used Opal apples, but something like honey crisp or granny smith would also do.
