Tequila Mule

This Tequila Mule recipe (also known as a Mexican Mule) combines the zesty kick of tequila with the refreshing tang of ginger beer, creating a spirited twist on the classic Moscow Mule. Garnished with a wedge of lime and served over ice, it's a delightful concoction perfect for any occasion!

Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1.5-2 oz tequila
  • ½ oz simple syrup
  • 4 oz ginger beer
  • 1 cup ice
  • 1 mint stalk
  • lime wedge for garnish

Instructions

  • Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour tequila, cointreau, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup into the shaker. Place one mint stalk into the shaker, too.

  • Shake vigorously for 30-60 seconds.
  • Add ice to the bottom of your glass and strain in the cocktail. Top with ginger beer (never shake carbonation, friends!) Gently swirl and add lime wedges. Enjoy!

Notes

To make it a mocktail: Instead of tequila add club soda and instead of the cointreau, use a splash of orange juice. Also ensure you’re using non-alcoholic ginger beer, but most in fact are spirit free!
If you want to make this cocktail ahead of time, combine everything except for the ginger beer and refrigerate for up to 24 hours. Before serving, top with ginger beer and lime wedges.
Do not use Ginger Ale instead of Ginger Beer. Ginger Beer is spicier and has a stronger flavor than Ginger Ale Soda. It's mild flavor will be lost in this drink.
