Bright, flavorful, and packed with texture, this Dumpling Salad is the perfect fusion of crispy pan-fried dumplings, fresh greens, and a zesty dressing. Whether you’re looking for a quick lunch or a vibrant side dish, this 30 minute recipe brings bold flavors to every bite!

Dumplings meet Salad
Thai cuisine might be my favorite take-out. When I developed my Easy Wonton Soup recipe, it reminded me how great frozen wontons are. And with half a bag left..I thought: how else can I use these wontons?! Insert this Dumpling Salad recipe!!
In this case, we’re going to air-fry/pan fry the savory dumplings and pair them with some crunchy vegetables, drizzled in a sweet chili dressing. YUM!
Nothing like a throw together salad with a bangin’ sauce that comes together pretty easily! Add in a plant-based protein and it’s a full, healthy MEAL. I’m sometimes skeptical of a viral recipe, but with everyone making their own versions, I needed to try. And let me tell ya, this tiktok- make of the viral dumpling salad does not disappoint the taste buds.
Dumplings usually feel heavy too me, but this salad is full of fresh vegetables and herbs that the end result is light and satisfying. It’s a fusion of flavors I thoroughly enjoy and will continue to make again and again.

Recipe Ingredients

- Wontons/Potstickers – I love using the Bibigo brand, but the beauty of this recipe is that all sorts of dumplings will work. Whether the base of the dumplings are veggie, chicken, shrimp, etc., all will be delicious! Cook these anyway you prefer – steam, fry, air fry, etc.
- Broccoli Slaw Kit or Equivalent – The base should be cabbage or broccoli, not regular salad lettuce. This will ensure you don’t end up with a soggy salad.
- Veggies: In addition to the slaw we’re using shallots, green onions, cilantro and edamame.
- Dressing: The homemade sweet dressing is comprised of sweet chili sauce, rice vinegar, soy sauce and sesame oil.
- Toppings:
See the recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.
Substitutions and Variations
- Add other vegetables – Use what you have on hand! Shredded carrots, cucumbers, bell peppers, water chestnuts are a few I think would be delicious. The original recipe from tik tok includes juicy tomatoes, so consider adding some for a take on the classic tomato dumpling salad (can I even call a TikTok recipe classic LOL).
- Short on time? Find a premade Asian dressing you love and use that instead!
- No potstickers? Using Thai noodles, udon or cooked ramen would be delicious!
How to Make This Recipe

1. Prep the frozen dumplings/wontons according to bag instructions. My recommendation is to pan-fry for 2-3 minutes per side or air-fry them so they get crispy.

2. Cook the edamame according to bag instructions in the microwave. In a large bowl, combine the slaw kit, cooked edamame, diced green onions, shaved shallot and diced cilantro. Toss together.

3. In a measuring cup, whisk together sweet chili sauce ingredients. If the sauce feels to thick, add a tablespoon of water or vegetable broth to thin.

4. Pour the flavorful dressing on the salad and mix together. Top the fresh veggies with the cooked dumplings. If serving later, hold off on combining the dumplings and salad to maximize dumpling freshness.
5. Serve your salad garnished with wonton strips, sesame seeds, shaved almonds & a squeeze of lime juice. Enjoy!

PRO TIPS
- If you’re pan frying the wontons I recommend sesame oil for a stronger Asian flavor, but if your’re airfrying, use avocado oil as it has a higher smoke point.
Recipe FAQs
This salad will keep for up to three days. Store the remaining dumplings in a separate container from the salad. Then when you’re ready to enjoy toss together! This will provide optimal freshness to the dish if you’re planning for meal prep or have leftovers.
This recipe can be enjoyed chilled or warmed! I gave some of this recipe to my parents. I didn’t leave any instructions with it, just left it in the fridge. Turns out, my mom microwaved it and enjoyed it. She said it was still great (after I told her it was meant to be enjoyed cold). So try out both ways and see what you prefer!
Serving suggestions
This Dumpling Salad would pair well with a protein like seared tofu, shrimp, Ninja Foodi Grill Chicken, or these Asian Meatballs. If you want a veggie side serve with these Asian Carrots, Korean Cauliflower or Roasted Green Beans.
