And what’s the base of the dip?! Of course, cottage cheese. When blended up it creates the creamiest consistency and when we add pickle juice and chopped pickles it gives the tastiest tang that is outright addicting! Grab a bag of kettle chips and watch the entire Pickle Ranch Dip disappear before your eyes, and don’t be surprised if you find yourself wanting to lick the dip bowl clean.

And if you’re into the dips, I also have this Cottage Cheese Chip Dip, this Corned Beef Dip, this Healthy Buffalo Chicken Dip or Cottage Cheese Ranch recipes on my site, which are both wonderful and similar to this recipe (just need a food processor)!!
Recipe Ingredients

- Cottage Cheese and Cream Cheese – Blended up will create the creamy texture for the base of this dip.
- Pickle Juice – Adding pickle brine adds extra flavor to this simple dip.
- Dill Gherkin Pickles – Fresh dill pickles are the star of the shop in this flavorful dip. See the FAQs section for other great options when it comes to your pickle choice.
- Ranch Seasoning Mix – Make your own with a teaspoon of each of the following: dried parsley, salt, garlic powder and half a teaspoon of onion powder, black pepper and thyme.
- Keebler Club Crackers – We will crush and toast these. This will be the fried element of our dip.
See the recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.
Substitutions and Variations
- Don’t love cottage cheese? Stick with sour cream. Or try using plain greek yogurt for your creamy base – you may want to add a splash of lemon juice for some acidity.
- Instead of the crackers, you can also sub panko breadcrumbs, regular breadcrumbs another cracker, or even pretzels. Anything salty and crunchy.
How to Make This Recipe

1. In a food processor, add cottage cheese, softened cream cheese, and pickle juice. Pulse it until cottage cheese and cream cheese are smoothed.

2. Use a vegetable chopper to finely dice dill pickles. Add them to the food processor with ranch seasoning mix, dried dill, and salt.

3. Pulse until pickles are minced into the dip. Heat a small skillet to medium heat and toast the club crackers until toasted and golden brown – gently stirring in the dry skillet to avoid burning. This is the “fried” element.

4. Transfer pickle dip to a serving bowl and top with ‘fried’ cracker crumbs and diced dill pickles! Enjoy this delicious dip cold with kettle chips!
PRO TIPS
Pulse the fresh pickles into the mixture! We still want there to be real bits of dill pickle throughout the dip for both texture and flavor!
Recipe FAQs
Store the dip (without the cracker crumbles) in an airtight container in the fridge for 4-5 days. Add the crumbs on top just before serving, so they don’t get soggy and you don’t lose the “fried” element.
Short answer, yes! It’s got the acidic and salty flavors that a fried pickle does and the creamy element that traditional dipping sauces have as well. The texture is obviously different, given it is dip form, but the taste is pretty spot on.
Really whatever kind of juicy pickles are your favorite. I think dill pickles offer the perfect balance of herby and salty flavors which compliment the creamy dip nicely. Feel free to play around with what kind you use, though. Sweet pickles, like bread and butter pickles, will create a – you guessed it – sweeter dip. If the tang of pickles isn’t your favorite, this will result in a more mild end result. For a very strong pickle taste, use sour pickles which are very tart.
Serving suggestions
Of course this crowd-pleasing dip is wonderful with potato chips, pita chips or pretzel chips, but it also is a tasty spread on sandwiches like this Italian Grinder, on a burger like this Oklahoma Onion Burger, on an Epic Three Cheese Grilled Cheese, with veggies like cucumbers, carrots or celery, on smashed potatoes, or even on a grilled protein like chicken or salmon.
