It is no secret that I love eating cottage cheese. I love it enough that I even ran a marathon sponsored by my favorite dairy (cottage cheese) brand, Country Fresh! Instead of running all over the blog to find specific recipes, I’ve rounded them up here.
So grab your spoon (or blender)—these cottage cheese recipes are here to shake up your meals in the tastiest, protein-packed way.
What type of cottage cheese is the best?
This is going to vary to everyone’s personal taste buds. Eating cottage cheese plain is different than when cooking/baking with it. All of my recipes are made with 4% small-curd Country Fresh Cottage Cheese. It’s creamy, not too watery, and texture wise is my personal favorite.
Why is the internet obsessed with cottage cheese?
Excellent and valid question. The virality of adding cottage cheese to everything started a few years ago, and the internet really ran with it. Do I think it needs to be in every recipe? Absolutely not. But it does pack in an extra 12g-18g of protein (just as is) and because of that protein boost, I find myself reaching for it, often.

I’ve even had some self-proclaimed cottage cheese haters say, “There’s cottage cheese in this?” It’s like a social experiment to run and that’s when I know I did my job right 😉

These recipes are just the beginning! Here are some tips if you’re wanting to experiment with your cottage cheese
Blend it smooth – If you’re not into the texture, toss it in a blender first. It becomes creamy and perfect for dips, sauces, or even desserts.
Use it in baking – Cottage cheese adds moisture and protein to baked goods like pancakes, muffins, or even cheesecake. No one will guess it’s in there.
Season it up – On its own, it’s mild. Add salt, pepper, herbs, or spices to bring it to life—think everything bagel seasoning or a dash of chili flakes.
Swap it in – Use it in place of sour cream, ricotta, or even mayo in recipes. It lightens things up without sacrificing creaminess.
Pair it wisely – Sweet or savory both work. Try it with berries and honey for breakfast, or mix it with roasted veggies and pasta for dinner.
Keep it cold – Like most dairy, cottage cheese is best served chilled for maximum flavor and freshness.
