About the best Turkey Burgers ever

Spinach and Feta Turkey Burgers with ranch seasoning and a big brioche bun are just what your week needs. These flavorful turkey burgers are a staple easy dinner in our house and happen nearly every week for meal prep. And every time I make them, the response is “Oh man, this is good!” So, you know…these are the real deal.

These burgers are bursting with a ton of flavor and are super simple. Made with lean ground turkey, fresh chopped spinach, crumbled feta cheese, crisp red onion, and ranch, they’re perfectly juicy and have great flavor.

For the ranch flavor, you can find ranch seasoning packets in the dressing or spice aisle of the grocery store. The packets are so convenient and SO tasty. I also use it in the Bacon Ranch Chicken Salad and this Chicken Ranch Mac and Cheese. And if you’re looking for another burger flavor to try, check out these California Burgers or if you don’t want handheld, try this Burger Bowl Recipe that I think you’ll love, too!

FEATURED COMMENT

“Wow! Legit the best turkey burgers ever! For so few ingredients, these were incredibly flavorful. I used frozen spinach and they turned out perfectly. Made two pounds – one for the fam, and one for me for leftovers 🙌” – Julianna

Recipe Ingredients

Ingredients for Turkey Burgers on a metal sheet pan.
  • Ground Turkey: 92-98% lean turkey works great! You don’t want any lower, as there will be extra moisture and then pan will become too greasy. You can substitute the turkey with lean ground beef if you prefer beef burgers, or ground chicken is tasty, too! I’ve not tried a plant-based ground meat like Beyond Beef or Impossible meat, but I’m confident that could work, too.
  • Feta Cheese: Super tangy. Works so well with ranch seasoning, too. I used crumbled, but you could buy the block and chop it for your turkey burgers with feta.
  • Ranch Seasoning: This is what gives our burger SO MUCH FLAVOR. It can be found in the dressing isle of most grocery stores and is made typically of a combination of onion powder, garlic powder, dill, parsley, chives, salt, black pepper, and dry buttermilk powder.

PRO TIPS

It’s crucial that the spinach and onion is diced finely. If they are too large, the burgers risk falling apart while cooking. Use a vegetable chopper for the onion for convenience.

How to Make These Juicy Burgers

Step 1

1. In a large mixing bowl, add the ground turkey, chopped red onion, freshly chopped baby spinach, and crumbled feta cheese and combine. Then pour in 1 packet of dry ranch seasoning into meat mixture and stir.

Step 2

2. Divide the turkey mixture into 4 equal portions. Then, using your hands, form the patties about an inch thick.

3. Grease a nonstick skillet and heat stove to medium-high heat. When the grease starts to crackle, add in burger patties. Cook the burgers for 4-5 minutes on each side or until meat reaches an internal temperature of 165°F. This is the perfect time to add some cheese to the top of your burgers if you choose.

4. While the turkey burgers with feta are sizzling, prepare your toppings. Slice the tomatoes, wash and dry crispy lettuce, drain spicy pickle chips and prepare the onions: raw or sautéed.

5. Set the oven to broil. (Around 525°F.) Slice each bun, brushing each side with olive oil mayo, adding some crumbled feta, and salt and pepper. One of the most common misconceptions about preparing a meal is the timing it takes to actually cook each individual piece. Because the broiler only takes 2-3 minutes, this can be done right after the burger patties are fully cooked.

Step 6: Assembly

6. Assemble your burger with your favorite burger toppings of choice and enjoy! I like to do shredded lettuce on the bottom on top of the mayo so it has something to stick to, then the patty on top of that to seal it in. Then I add tomato, onion, lettuce, more mayo (or ranch/ketchup/mustard), pickles, the top bun and bite on in!

Grilling Turkey Feta Burgers

If you’re going to grill these Ranch Turkey Burgers with Feta, you’ll want to use tinfoil. Because they’re so packed with ingredients, they may fall apart if you just toss them directly on the grill. I always cook mine in a skillet and they stay together every time. I think a grill pan could work, too!

RECIPE FAQs

What happens if the burger patties fall apart?

If the burger add-ins are too large it affects the burgers’ overall ability to hold its shape, so pro-tip chop the fresh spinach and onion finely! If you do, however, notice the burger patties are not staying together before cooking them, try adding 1/4 cup of bread crumbs or an egg to the turkey burger mixture. It will act as a binding agent and help the burgers maintain their shape.

How do you store turkey burgers?

Store cooked Spinach Feta Turkey Burgers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. These Turkey Burgers are great for meal prep!

These burgers freeze super well, too! Wrap each burger individually shaped burger with plastic wrap and you can freeze them raw or cooked burgers for up to 3 months. If freezing raw patties, let come to room temperature before cooking.

What are the best burger toppings?

The toppings I usually add to these burgers are: Tomatoes, butter lettuce, pickles, mayo, cheese, ranch, avocado, and some sort of aioli (this truffle aioli or this chipotle aioli). Other ideas for delicious toppings: Mustard (regular, honey, dijon, or spicy brown!), raw or grilled onions, mushrooms, bacon, or hummus! I’ve also taken the direction of greek turkey burgers and added tzatziki sauce on top, which is delicious, too.

Serving suggestions

I love to serve these burgers with my homemade Roasted Sweet Potato Fries, Arugula Couscous Salad, or it even pairs well with this Summer Berry Salad.
