Recipe Ingredients

ingredients for ranch snack mix in individual bowls.
  • Snacks: Use what you have, but I included pretzels, Goldfish, Cheddar and Sour Cream Ruffles chipsHoney BBQ Fritos, oyster crackers, and Cheez-Its.
  • Butter: This will provide some stickiness to help spread the ranch flavors over all of the snacking ingredients. I use unsalted butter as the snacks have plenty of added salt.
  • Ranch Seasoning: Gives our snack mix all of its flavor! Mixed in with the melted butter is outright addicting. You can grab hidden valley ranch packets from Amazon or it’s typically found in the dressing aisle at the grocery store. You can also try making your own with a combination of buttermilk powder (or milk powder), parsley flakes, chives, dill weed, garlic powder, onion powder, minced onion, salt, and black pepper.

See the recipe card below for a full list of ingredients and measurements.

Substitutions and Variations

You may think I have a strange combination of snacks in this Ranch Snack Mix. I totally do. I had all of these snacks at home and realized that I could combine them all to make something absolutely MAGICAL. And that’s just what this yummy snack mix is!

That being said, feel free to customize with your own favorites or whatever you may have around. Here are some other snack ideas that would work great:

  • Nuts
  • Rice or Corn Chex cereal
  • Tortilla chips
  • Doritos
  • Cheese puffs
  • Croutons
  • Pumpkin or sunflower seeds

You can switch up the flavors of this Snack Mix:

  • Make it little spicy if that’s your jam! Add some red pepper flakes, cayenne powder, or some chipotle seasoning.
  • A little honey or maple syrup would also sweeten this mix up for a sweet and salty combo!
  • Change out the ranch for another seasoning packet. Onion Dip Mix, a French Onion Dip Mix, Garlic Parmesan, Spinach Artichoke, get creative!

Recipe FAQs

How do you store it?

Once cooled to room temperature, store in an airtight container on the counter or in the pantry for up to 1 week. This is perfect to put in baggies for little pre-packaged snack mixes you can add to lunches!

How do I avoid soggy snack mix?

You want the dry ingredients to be well coated with ranch/butter mixture, but not completely wet prior to cooking. Using the correct ratios provided in this recipe will ensure that doesn’t happen.

Also be sure to let your mixture cool, or “dry” after it comes out of the oven before you store it. This helps ensure the snack mixture doesn’t get trapped with steam.

Is this good for on-the-go?

Absolutely! Separate into little baggies for delicious on-the-go snacking. I suggest packing some napkins, though, as all of that buttery ranch seasoning is going to leave your fingers a little greasy.

Is Ranch Snack Mix healthy?

This recipe is high in both fat and calories and I wouldn’t necessarily consider it healthy. It is best enjoyed in moderation.
