Easy Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Easy Chocolate Chip Banana Bread that’s soft and moist with melty chocolate chips sprinkled throughout. The banana bread is just sweet enough for breakfast (or a snack) and has the most fluffy texture. A warm slice of this alongside a coffee (or any warm drink) is my ideal situation!

Not to mention, I think every blogger needs a banana bread recipe, RIGHT?! This recipe of mine is delicious and good for the soul, made with regular flour and sugar for the classic banana bread flavor. And while I haven’t experimented with any substitutions for this, there are 101 other banana bread recipes out that have the exact ingredients/substitutions you’re looking for!

And if you’re in the mood for even more banana bread, check out my Blueberry Banana Bread with crisp corners and a moist/doughy center. The bursts of fresh blueberry flavor get me every time!

Ingredients in Easy Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

Bananas – The more ripe your bananas, the better! Once they’re speckled with brown or turning more brown-is than yellow, you know they’ll be good. Then simply mash them with a fork or your hands.

Eggs – Are a binding agent to hold the bread together and help it rise while baking.

All-Purpose Flour – Using all-purpose flour versus gluten free creates the nostalgic, classic banana bread flavor + texture of my childhood! I wouldn’t recommend subbing for a gluten free flour unless you’re up to experimenting with it because I haven’t.

White Sugar – The same as the flour, nothing beats the real deal white granulated sugar!

Butter – The buttery essence of real, cows milk butter is the best for the banana bread. Keeps it fluffy and moist unlike some of the low-fat substitutions out there.

Chocolate Chips – I loooove the combination of chocolate chips + banana bread but you could also sub for pecans which are just as tasty. OR do both, half chocolate chips and half pecans.

Greek Yogurt – Makes this banana bread extra thick and moist, I promise you can’t even taste it!

How to Make Easy Chocolate Chip Banana Bread

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease (2) 8 x 4 loaf pans (or just do one big one and pour extra batter into muffin tins, etc)
  • Combine eggs, mashed bananas, butter, greek yogurt, and vanilla in a mixing bowl. Beat together until fluffy.

  • Beat in sugar.

  • Pour in all dry ingredients (flour, baking soda & powder, pinch of salt, ground cinnamon) besides the chocolate chips into the bowl – do not mix until everything is added (if you want, you can fold together the dry ingredients into a separate bowl – but I like less dishes so that’s why this recipe is the way it is HA).

  • Once the batter is consistent, fold in chocolate chips.

  • Pour batter into greased 8 x 4 loaf pan – top with more chocolate chips if desired

  • Bake for 50 minutes or slightly under until toothpick comes out clean.

  • Serve warm with your favorite cup of tea/milk/coffee or just inhale by the slice

Make It Your Own!

I’m being 100% honest when I say I LOVE this easy chocolate chip banana bread as is. The combination of banana and chocolate chips makes my tastebuds (and heart) happy! BUT I also think you could switch things up to make this banana bread customized to your preferences. Here are some ideas:

– Add pecans or walnuts for an extra crunch or do half chocolate chip, half nuts to keep the chocolate in there.

– Sub white chocolate chips or peanut butter chips for the milk chocolate. You could also get real crazy and do chopped peanut butter cups!

– Add dried cranberries or raisins with pecans or walnuts and make this into a trail mix banana bread.

– Sub for a vegan butter to keep this dairy-free. To make it entirely vegan you’d have to experiment with egg replacements which I personally haven’t tested with this bread! So do so at your own risk. You’d also have to switch the greek yogurt for a thick vegan alternative.

– Once the bread has baked, try drizzling melted chocolate or peanut butter overtop to make this into more of a dessert bread.

– To make muffins instead, simply divide the batter evenly in muffin tins and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out with only a few crumbs.

perfectly roasted sweet potato fries every time 🙌🏼😍🍠 crisped in the oven in under 40 mins & then a little time on the broiler makes these irresistible. I love pairing them with my Spinach Feta Turkey Burgers or dunking them in ranch! What’s your go to fry condiment? I think mine would have to be ranch or chickfila sauce....but I also love ketchup 😜
