Usually it’s all about the snacks and appetizers, but I usually like to have a main dish, too. I usually make 1 or 2 dips, 1 non-dip appetizer, and 1 main dish. The main doesn’t have to be anything fancy (see one of the recipes above!), but something a little more substantial is nice to accompany all of the snacks. Opt for finger foods and/or things that aren’t to messy so it’s easy for guests to grab and take to the couch.
What should you NOT serve at a Super Bowl party?
I’ve got plenty of recipes on what TO serve at the big game, but there’s also some clear things to avoid. Anything that requires both a fork and a knife, I’d avoid (i.e. steak, large pieces of grilled chicken, salmon, etc.). People want things that are easy to take over to eat in front of the TV, not at a dinner table. I’d also avoid anything that doesn’t do well sitting out for an extended period of time (like a delicate salad that’ll get soggy if dressed before the game). And lastly, avoid anything too upscale. For example, a fancy cheese plate with expensive meats and garnishes really won’t be appreciated when there’s so much action on TV.
Can I make Super Bowl appetizers ahead of time?
Most Super Bowl apps can be made or at least prepped in advance, which I highly suggest doing to avoid the stress of cooking when guests arrive. Most also transport well, so if you’re taking the dish to a party, you won’t have to worry about it not being good when you get to your destination. See individual recipe details for make ahead/storage options.
What are must haves at a Super Bowl party?
Outside of delicious Game Day recipes, paper plates, utensils, cups and napkins are a must for your Super Bowl party. This will make clean up SO much easier. I also like to use the large disposable foil pans for serving, so I end up with less dishes at the end of the night. A bag of ice is also nice to have if your ice machine is slow like mine.
And that’s a wrap. Hop on over into the kitchen to whip one of these up. Crowd-pleasing, game-winning recipes you’re going to love. And if you’re looking for even more, you can find all of my Game Day Recipes here! Enjoy!
