About this Cocktail
I love a good marg. I think my favorite is this Skinny Spicy Jalapeño Margarita, but I’ve discovered there are so many fun ways to switch up the classic tequila cocktail like this Italian Margarita and this Spicy Orange Margarita.
But banana? Yeah, I didn’t think a Banana Margarita would be good either. But let me tell you, just a subtle hint of banana with the tequila and margarita mix is the perfect tropical twist that is surprisingly tasty.
This Bananarita reminds me a little bit of a Pina Colada with its slight creaminess. It definitely feels tropical and it is perfect for summer.
Recipe Ingredients
- Light Margarita Mix - Pre-made mix is so convenient and ensures you don't screw up the margarita base.
- Banana - For a Banana Margarita, we need banana of course! This seems like a strange combo, but trust me on this one.
- Lime - Some citrus that is always welcomed when tequila is involved.
- Tequila - I recommend 1800 Coconut Tequila but any tequila blanco will do.
- Triple Sec - Adds that hint of orange that classic margaritas have.
- Salt/Sugar - To rim your glass. I am 99% a salt rimmed marg girlie, BUT I’d recommend sugar for this one. It felt right with the banana flavor.

Recipe FAQs
You must use a blender for this recipe. There is no other piece of equipment that will blend the banana completely - and I hesitate saying this, but: can you imagine a chunky banana margarita - ICK.
Absolutely! I suggest subbing the tequila for coconut water and sub the triple sec with a splash of orange juice.
The whole banana itself gives enough banana flavor, but if you’d like you can replace the triple sec with banana liqueur.

I can't believe I'd ever say this, but Banana Margaritas are actually really tasty! Similar vibes to a Pina Colada - tropical but make it banana!
Sydney Van Acker says
I used a whole frozen banana and used Malibu in place of the triple sec. Definitely pina colada vibes. Smooth and super tasty
